Position Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and visionary Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to lead the nursing operations at a prominent acute care hospital within NYC, located in the Bronx. This facility plays a vital role in the community, delivering comprehensive healthcare services with a strong focus on emergency care, women’s health, behavioural health, and chronic disease management.
As CNO, you will provide executive leadership and strategic direction for all nursing functions across the hospital. You will champion clinical excellence, foster a culture of collaboration and innovation, and ensure high-quality patient-centered care that reflects the organization's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic nursing initiatives that align with institutional goals and drive operational efficiency.
- Lead nursing teams to deliver exceptional patient care using evidence-based practices and innovative approaches.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership to improve care delivery models and optimize resource allocation.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure nursing outcomes, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Cultivate a supportive environment that promotes professional growth, mentorship, and career advancement for nursing staff.
- Champion initiatives that enhance patient safety, satisfaction, and clinical outcomes.
- Serve as the nursing voice within the executive team, contributing to policy and operational decisions.
- Lead change management efforts to adapt to evolving healthcare challenges and standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Current RN license (Primary Source Verification Required)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or a related field (preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive nursing leadership experience, including experience in a senior management role
- Demonstrated success in leading large teams and implementing change in complex healthcare settings
- Expertise in regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and patient safety standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) or Healthcare Administration (PhD, DHA)
- Experience working within a multi-facility healthcare system or academic medical centre
- Proven track record of implementing initiatives that improved nursing practice and patient outcomes
- Involvement in professional nursing organizations and community health efforts
Technical and Leadership Skills:
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and healthcare management software
- Experience leveraging data analytics to support clinical decision-making and performance improvement
- Financial acumen in managing nursing budgets and departmental resources
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage nursing staff
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities to engage with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Strategic thinker with analytical problem-solving skills
- Commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and supportive work culture
- Passionate advocate for nursing excellence and improving patient outcomes
